This classical piece of sculpture is very difficult to create in sand. Even the silty sand of Harrison Hot Springs will not hold up an unsupported arm, head or leg. |

Fred Darrington started sand sculpting on the "strand" in Weymouth after the First World War. For over 60 years his "demonstration" has been a tourist attraction for kids of all ages. Mark now continues the family tradition. Shown here at age 86, Fred has attended the World's twice. Here he is shown with part of "Neptune". |
